Solitude. (Our trip from Melbourne to Darwin and back. 2023.)
I wanted to capture the amazing landscape of Australia as we travelled from Melbourne all the way to Darwin, via many places along the way. I chose to do this with black & white film on my Hasselblad 500C and to a lesser extent my Olympus OM10 cameras. Despite it being a very colourful landscape, the black & white for me, adds to the sense of vastness, and allows viewers to slow down and appreciate the subtle differences of landscapes that to many may seem the same. Having taken them on medium format allows for them to be printed and seen on a larger scale, perhaps in an exhibition or book form. This project is far from over, since getting these images has just made me want to do more, to see more, travel more and take more images with a view to one day sharing them in a printed form.
